If you're familiar with Engel machines, you know that the company favors a green color theme. But green isn't just a bright color on an all-electric Engel e-cap injection molding machine—it appears the company has adopted a sustainable mentality for all of its packaging equipment.

Glass roving optimized for acrylic composites

A new glass roving specifically designed and formulated for acrylic resins allows for the manufacture and production of glass reinforced PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) thermoplastic composites.

From 3B-the fibreglass company (Battice, Belgium), the roving employs E-CR glass, which is an alumino-lime silicate with less than one weight-percent of alkali oxides that exhibits high acid resistance.

Marathon victims transfer to ultra-green rehab hospital

Many victims of the Boston Marathon bombing, including 14 amputees, are now being transferred into the brand-new Spaulding Rehabilitation Center in Charlestown, MA.

The nine-story, $225 million hospital officially opens tomorrow, replacing a worn-out facility nearby. It's state-of-the art throughout, with ceiling-mounted lift systems to move patients from their beds to the bathroom. The facility also includes motion analysis and robotic labs.
