Plastic auxiliary equipment manufacturer Process Control Corp. (Atlanta, GA) has upgraded the firm’s established Guardian batch blender series, which it introduced in 1999. The improvements include a top-to-bottom electrical and mechanical redesign.

On the electrical front, the blenders now com standard with a color, touchscreen operator interface, which can be remote mounted up to 1000 ft (305m) from the blender. The all-new control system is put together from off-the-shelf electronics but the blender control software is said to offer improved accuracy and increased total blender throughput.

Each hopper on the blenders has one 90-degree side and no transition sections, a design which helps improve material flow. To make installation easier, the supply hopper assembly can be rotated 90 degrees. Redesigned and removable cartridge-style dispensing gates are equally sized, so any ingredient can be dispensed from any hopper, regardless of percentage. Optional dispensing gate restrictor plates are available for better blending of very low-percentage ingredients.

All models offer dual hinged access doors for weigh hopper/mixer access with quick release latches. The mixer discharge gate comes standard and is also designed as a removable cartridge. The weigh hopper assembly has been redesigned featuring three-point mounting for easy installation and alignment, and with an optimized, dual-loadcell mounting arrangement. mpweditorial@cancom.com
