The decision by SPI to leave Chicago and McCormick Place for Orlando and the Orange County Convention Center has not gone unnoticed by the local press. The Chicago Tribune quoted Mayor Richard Daley as saying the shift marked "a serious loss" for the city. The local ABC affiliate noted this was the second show to bail on Chicago in a week, while the local Fox station said Mayor Daley is asking for concessions from unions that works at McCormick due to the exodus of events. The news was also a headliner in another industry, trade shows, with Trade Show Week covering the move.
