ABS and PU foaming

Hi All,
I have adhesion problems between substrate in ABS and PU foam (got with foaming process, not gluing).Normally, we don't have to use flamming or plasma to get a good adhesion with ABS, but in my case, it works with both. I think that ABS surface tension doesn't match with PU. How define the right surface tension? My ABS is not natural but colored in black with masterbatch. Has the masterbatch an influence on surface tension? On my part, areas have good adhesion, but others not. Has the moulding an influence? Thanks in advance for your support.
Guillaume.

Molded in stress can affect

Molded in stress can affect your bond strength. Also using the wrong mold release when starting the mold, not cleaning the mold saver/rust preventitive off as well can cause you issues.
The molder needs to understand what he is doing, and how it affects your process. Colorant can also afect the bonding due to the pigments and additives, as well. The carrier resin of the colorant can also be a root cause. Often times color folks use PS or another styrene based resin as the carrier because of cost or so you don't have to dry the color.
Last thing; the enviroment around the parts can also affect you. Storing them in extreme temp ranges, or in a dusty enviromet can spell disaster.
Rick.
