Degradation or residence time limit for plastics

Hello Team,

Can i get a details about - How to determine the degradation or residence time limit for a particualr polymer?Specially while using injection molding application.

Use 40%min of barrel per shot and good molding practices.

U can ask for data from resin supplier but it could be from rheometer (shear may not be the same as in molding m/c) or TGA (no shear). Therefore, you have to be careful with the data.

The resin manufacturers

The resin manufacturers publish this data, as each resin differs. Even resins of the same class can differ due to additives.

Contact the resin maker or their website. You will have to do some simple math calculations involving shot weight,cycle time and barrel/melt (and hot runner if present) capacity.

Remember data assumes correct and HR barrel temps.
