We are injection molding a part that has a very thin walled diamter of about 1.5 inches. It is shrinking out of round. Would making a fixture that had an out-of-round post on it work? This way it would force it to be in round? Any ideas?

We run both filled and unfilled ULTEM resins and maintain TIRs of, in some cases tenths of a thousandth of an inch.
Mold design, construction, gating, packing and steel temps all play an important part of consistency.
CF PEI is hard to purge out and also feed in some screw designs.

I expect tooling mods and process mods will be required to correct the out of round condition you speak of. Short of that, you will have to use the mold as a very expensive part fixture.
How much TIR do you have? What is the resin? Melt and mold temp.?

You'll probably have to move the gate. What style gate do you have ? And what is the plastic _ amorphous or crystalline.?
