Nozzle Design

We have a vertical injection molding system. It is a prototype making design. It uses a clamp and a separate hydraulic driven ram to press the resin into the mold. I had to make a nozzle for the system. At the end of the nozzle, a 0.04" diameter hole that is 0.3" long is used. We are using PPS resin and the first parts look great. The trouble we are having is that the nozzle continues to extrude material after the ram is drawn away from the resin. What should be the diameter and length of the hole in the nozzle to prevent resin waste? The injection volume is < 1 cm^2.
Thank you in advance.

We bought a shutoff nozzle
We bought a shutoff nozzle with our new ENGEL (eat your heart out Rick) vertical molding machine. I used to be a horizontal molder, but you are never too old to learn new tricks.
Keep on molding (vertically or horizontally)!

With many vertical machines, they have a shut off nozzle to control the drool. These nozzles have a pin inside them, pneumatically driven that opens to inject, then closes to stop the resin flow.

What is the typical diameter
What is the typical diameter for a nozzle orifice?
Are you sure about that
Are you sure about that diameter and length? I won't even ask about how much gravitational pull there is in your location!
Keep on Molding (but not drooling)!
