PC-ABS material properties change with added colorants

We are making a very small (1/2" diameter in total) clamping assmebly from PC-ABS. We had no problems when molding the parts in black but when we moved to pink we experiance all types a cracking problems. Bascially the material properties have change to become more brittle. (photo attached)
Can someone tell me if there is a way around this.
Or is there a good substitute for PC-ABS

I may not be an expert in this field, but I know that PC/ABS is prone to decomposition if it is overheated, kept too long at melt temperatures or is not dried properly prior to molding. I have faced similar problems as well but was not able to get a proper solution too.

Get with your colorant supplier what base resin did they use? Did you use concentrate when making black parts? I can not open your picture but it sounds like you may have an incompatable concentrate. Also contact your resin supplier they should have a data base of what colorants do to the physical properties, as well as recommended colorant suppliers.

Rode Many colorants act as

Many colorants act as nucleating agents. What you'll find is that the dimensions change depending on the color.

Colors come in many 'flavors' - some are organometallic dyes, some are inorganic pigments.

I would first check your processing conditions: Are you processing to the manufacturing specs?

Next go back and look at the black parts. This defect may have been there all along and you just didn't see it. If it has been there, there is something wrong with the processing or tooling.

Last, go to the colorant folks and get at least three different formulations (dyes, pigments, combination etc.) of the dame color. Try each one and see what works. This is not an uncommon problems. Just one that pops up when you don't need it.

Hope this helps.
