Can anyone tell me about the shelf life of Polypropylene or other polymer granules and what are exact storage condition requirements to extend its shelf life

Storage conditions as well as

Storage conditions as well as dietary characteristics affect the shelf life of laboratory animal diets. Such non-dietary factors include, but may not be limited to, lighting, oxygen, temperature and moisture. Antioxidants and fat in diet formulations can also affect the overall shelf life. Our data prove that the shelf life of LabDiet® products can be extended beyond the recommendations in the Guide for Care and Use of Laboratory Animals by storing products under climate-controlled conditions. Irradiation can also extend diet shelf life by preventing growth of bacteria, yeasts and molds. Extension of shelf life by controlled storage varies depending on the type of diet.

There are different

There are different polypropylene products in the market, and depending on their usage, the shelf life can differ. Factors affecting its shelf life include temperature and frequency of usage. I am not sure what are the exact factors though.

While we are on this topic,

While we are on this topic, would heating affect the shelf life of plastics? I have been curious about that because I have some plastic containers near my cooker and they are almost constantly exposed to heat.

Polypropene, is a

Polypropene, is a thermoplastic polymer used in a wide variety of applications including packaging, textiles (e.g., ropes, thermal underwear and carpets), stationery, plastic parts and reusable containers of various types, laboratory equipment, loudspeakers, automotive components, and polymer banknotes.4G LTE Phones

According to Dow chemicals

According to Dow chemicals polypropylene glycols and polyglycol copolymers have a recommended shelf life of two years. I don't know if that is the same type of polypropylene product you were curious about.

Polypropylene has a longer

Polypropylene has a longer shelf life and when they are used with plastic preparing then it will be of great use.
It can be stored in shelf.

You did make some interesting

You did make some interesting points over there Hank. I completely agree with you. Thanks a lot.www.wart-off.net

Polypropylene glycols and

Polypropylene glycols and polyglycol copolymers exhibit a low order of acute toxicity by ingestion or skin exposure. Aquatic toxicity is typically low and many of the products are biodegradable. Consult individual safety data sheets for more specific information.
Polypropylene glycols and polyglycol copolymers dissolve or are compatible with many performance additives and are miscible in various organic liquids.

Yeah, I think I read

Yeah, I think I read somewhere that Polypropylene granules have an indefinite shelf life as long as you store it is a cool and dry place!! But it is always better to check out with your suppliers about such details as you cannot afford to take the risk as it must be expensive and not a very easy raw material to get!! I didn’t know that they even used automatic overhead sprinkler systems to keep them cool – that is new information for me!!

I think cool and dry is the

I think cool and dry is the key. ie don't stack them on top of your radiators.

Most material suppliers have

Most material suppliers have data generated and some provide on MSDS sheet. Normally PP has an unlimited shelf life if stored in a cool dry location. Most protect the area with automatic overhead sprinkler systems. Hope this helps when with and elastomer group we did studies out to five years and had no problems running material or loss of properties.

Good idea, should have done

Please let us know what they say.

BEST TO CHECK WITH YOUR MATERIAL SUPPLIER.
