Hot runner solutions target small part applications

A threaded leak-proof hot runner manifold nozzle and a pneumatic bolt-on actuator for valve gate hot runner systems are the latest additions to the hot runner product line of Synventive Molding Solutions (Peabody, MA).

The Model 06E threaded/screw-fit manifold nozzle is available with both thermal gate and valve gate options, features a 6-mm flow bore (with 20-mm mold cut-out), and is designed for small shot weights up to 100g per nozzle. Since nozzles are threaded into the manifold, a leak-proof system is provided without critical stackup dimensions that must be maintained.

The nozzle is externally heated and available in lengths from 60-200 mm. Synventive touts that its nozzle heaters are easily replaceable and have integrated, replaceable thermocouples. When 06E nozzles are used in a valve gate system and combined with a bolt-on actuator, the complete hot runner system can be supplied prewired and prehosed for simple plug-and-play mold installation.

The Model PNC30 pneumatic bolt-on valve gate actuator features a cover plate (customer-supplied) that allows valve pins to be removed and/or adjusted without removing the top clamp plate. The top clamp plate can also be removed without removing valve pins from the hot runner. No pneumatic or cooling hoses are required, as these lines are gun-drilled directly into top clamp plate. Further, there is no side force/load on valve pins due to the bolt-on design, resulting in perfect pin alignment. In addition, active cooling provided through the back plate means no piping is required in the valve gate actuator. —immeditorial@cancom.com
