New Tooling Components: Stainless Steel Insert Frames, Water Flow Diverter

Progressive Components says it is aggressively developing its product line andhas added two new components for injection molds: Rapid Tooling Insert (RTI) frames and the Water Blocker waterflow diverter.

Insert frames RTI frames are compatible with industry-standard unit inserts and are manufactured from pre-hardened stainless steel to increase storage life and improve long-term appearance. Progressive says that the frames are competitively priced with frames that do not offer corrosion resistance.

Each frame has a combination locating ring/sprue bushing, which is saidto eliminate the need for separate components. The clamps are designed tostay with the frame, which eliminates insert loading and accidental loss. Prices for the frames range between $1735and $2375.

In addition to the frames, the company has also introduced RTI accessories, which include shoulder-style leader pins, guide pin bushings and support pillars. These items are designed for the nominal sizes found in quick-change unit inserts. Prices start at $5.

Water flow diverter The Water Blocker is designed to be a positive way of diverting coolant flow within a mold's waterline circuits. Unit will not shift after installation and can be removed and reinstalled for maintenance.

The design can be used with multiple waterlines. A wrench system allows for accurate plug placement within a circuit. Four sizes are available, based on waterline nominals. Two wrench lengths are offered to accommodate the majority of tooling applications. Prices range from $2.35 to $4.20.
