Modular design, hybrid empowered energy efficiency, and injection speeds that allow molders to minimize material use and reduce cycle times have helped Netstal's market launch of its Elion 3200 go "exceptionally well", according to the Swiss machinery manufacturer.

By threading the nozzles directly into the hot runner manifold, a new hot runner nozzle offers a leak-proof design without critical stack-up dimensions that must be maintained.  The 09E nozzle, for use with Synventive Molding Solutions' line of 'Plug 'n Play' unitized hot runner systems, has thermal- and valve-gate options, including a 9-mm internal flow bore, with 30-mm mold cut-out. Synventive says the nozzle is ideal for medium-sized part applications with maximum shot weights of 250g per nozzle.

The new Form 200 mS diesinker EDM from GF AgieCharmilles with rotary tool changer (RTC) takes die-sinking electric discharge machining to the next level, claims GF AgieCharmilles, by bringing precise geometric quality and increased lights-out operation to micro machining and other applications.

An all-electric injection molding machine will shoot thin-wall lids at NPE 2012 for a newly developed ice cream container. This e-motion 740H/310W/200 T combi machine from injection molding machine and automation supplier Engel, will be used in conjunction with a two-component injection molding process and in-mold labeling.

By replacing a standard induction or frequency drive motor with a permanent-magnet servo motor, the Maxima Servo injection molding machine from Milacron Plastics Technologies is said to offer energy efficiency, reliability and part quality "rivaling" an all-electric, according to the manufacturer, but at a lower price point.

Objet Ltd. (Rehovot, Israel) is expanding its line of simultaneous multi-material 3D printing technology to include a smaller footprint machine with a 260-by-260-by-200-mm (10.2-by-10.2-by-7.9 inch) tray size. Like its larger counterparts, the Objet260 Connex can print up to 14 different material properties within a single part thanks to the company's patented simultaneous multi-material jetting technology, it can also utilize the newly released acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS)-like and transparent materials.

Injection molders who may have need for multiple services now have a new payment plan option from Erie, PA-based Beaumont Technologies. A nudge from one of the company's customers convinced the management there to create new service plans from which molders could pick the options they need.

Injection molding machine manufacturer Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH has extended its range of hydraulic injection molding machine series to include a new frame size. As a result, Systec-brand machines now will be offered with up to 13,000 kN of clamp force. Smallest machines in the Systec range are sized with 250 kN of clamp force.
