Quick-Coupler-type water jumpers from DME Molding Supplies (Madison Heights, MI) can plumb a mold for cooling using significantly less mold space, according to DME. They can either be embedded in the mold itself or run on top of the mold.
jumpersThis gives molders greater flexibility and can reduce the amount of hose required. It also gives the mold a cleaner look and reduces the likelihood of setup errors, says the vendor. The jumpers are offered as part of the company's line of MRO cooling products.
"The Quick-Coupler-type water jumper really cleans up a mold," says Jim Hunt, manager of DME Molding Supplies. "It's quickly growing in popularity with processors because of its flexibility and the way it uses much less real estate on the mold."
The water jumpers have swivel bodies that allow them to fit into tight spaces and prevent waterlines from crimping. Additional benefits include oversized and unrestricted flow path that maintains full flow rate of hose used; a locking sleeve that prevents accidental disconnection and ensures proper installation; all brass and stainless steel construction for maximum durability, and Viton seals that provide for temperatures up to 400°F. Compatible with all major mold connection systems, the jumpers fit hoses with inner diameters ranging from 0.25-0.75 inch.—immeditorial@ubm.com
