Robots/automation: Six-axis robots take the stand at Plastec Midwest

At this month’s Plastec Midwest show (organized by MPW parent Canon Communications LLC), stand 732 will be occupied by automotive parts processor Denso, where it will highlight its six-axis robots designed for use in plastics processing facilities. The VM-Series six-axis articulated robots were specifically designed for use in the firm’s own injection molding processes (it has more than 15,000 robots for its own use) but it also markets these to other processors as well. A 130-mm wide arm and 1000?1300-mm reach make it possible for these robots to reach around tooling or into plastic injection molds without interfering with peripheral equipment. Cycle time is from 0.89 to 0.95 sec. and repeatability is from ±0.05 to ±0.07 mm. A maximum payload capacity of 10 kg and the high maximum allowable moment of inertia (0.36 kgm2 at J4 and J5, and 0.064 kgm2 at J6) enable processors to use these with a wide variety of applications. Standard, as well as dust- and mist-proof models with protection equivalent to IP65 (wrist) and IP54 (body), are available.
