The United States Business & Industry Council (USBIC) China Import Penetration Survey 2010 just released provides detailed production and China import penetration figures for key U.S. manufacturing industries. The report, compiled by Alan Tonelson, a research fellow at the USBIC, with Paul Moseman, a research assistant, shows that "China's industrial prowess is no longer confined to low-wage, low-tech, labor-intensive industries that have largely disappeared from America's landscape."

New line for tunnel pipe extrusion said to double output

A new system for corrugated plastic drainage pipes is said to offer throughput of up to twice as much as conventional systems. PVC, PE, and PP all can be processed on the new systems.

Procter & Gamble, Sidel, and PTI report they have codeveloped the means to use injection stretch blowmolding to create a new type of container handle. The trio says benefits to extrusion blowmolding, the standard process for handleware, include 20%-25% material savings and a higher output per cavity.
