Calling all 3D printing engineers and enthusiasts: HP (Palo Alto, CA) has launched a competition that invites you to submit designs that elevate the use of color in 3D-printed products. “Show us,” said the company, by submitting your color design to the HP 3D Print Design Competition, and you might walk away with an HP Book 15 G5 Mobile Workstation.
The design should focus on functional color ideas—either new or extended—that benefit the product’s consumer. Color should be used in a way that increases or expands the product’s desired function. Be sure to highlight why 3D printing is the best channel of production for your idea, adds HP.
Judging will be based on the following three criteria:
- Functionality: The design is a functional part that utilizes the advantages of 3D printing.
- Aesthetic appeal: The design includes an aesthetic component that offers an added value.
- Utilization of color: The design uses color in a creative manner that contributes to the functionality of the final part.
Information on accepted file formats and guidelines on part dimensions, as well as the submission form, can be found here.
The deadline to enter is Sept. 5, 2019.
