Wohlers Associates hosts design for additive manufacturing course high in the Rockies

Wohlers Associates Inc. (Fort Collins, CO) announced that its course on design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) will be held this year in the scenic mountain town of Frisco, CO; elevation 9,097 feet. The course, scheduled for Aug. 8 to 10, 2018, offers designers, engineers and managers an opportunity to learn methods and strategies for maximizing the benefits of additive manufacturing (AM).

Wohlers Associates, publisher of the popular Wohlers Report, has identified DfAM as one of the key barriers to companies adopting AM, more commonly known as 3D printing. Wohlers Associates instructor and world-renowned DfAM expert Olaf Diegel will lead the course. The company has conducted this program for NASA, Materialise and others.

“To stay competitive with AM, it is critical to give DfAM the time and effort it deserves,” said Terry Wohlers, Principal Consultant and President of Wohlers Associates. “Neglecting the importance of DfAM is a mistake that most organizations will not want to make.”

To actively fill the DfAM education and training gap, Wohlers Associates has compiled years of experience and lessons into this popular three-day course. Topics covered in the training include the consolidation of many parts into one and methods to reduce material and weight, such as topology optimization and lattice/mesh structures. It includes best practices and a wealth of DfAM guidelines. Participants will gain hands-on experience by designing real parts and building them on AM equipment.

Additionally, they will enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Rocky Mountains while learning DfAM from experienced and respected leaders in the AM industry. Small, quaint but bustling with activity, Frisco is the ideal location to Design at Elevation with Wohlers Associates. Details are available at www.wohlersassociates.com/DfAM.
