In addition to the 40,000 registrants, Pearson reported that NPE2009 had officially drawn 1851 exhibitors, up around 200 from 2006. Those exhibitors are occupying around 977,000 ft2, down from more than 1 million ft2 three years ago. In terms of the number of distinct companies represented by the registrants, SPI reported that just under 17,000 distinct businesses had signed on. That compares to 19,000 in 2006.
“I think it’s a good start,” Pearson said, adding that he believed the number would ultimately be higher. Of the 40,000 registered, 28,000 are not exhibitors. SPI also believes the show will deliver a high number of walk-up attendees, with 15% of registrants in show’s past signing up at the show. —[email protected]
