Article-Absolute Haitian cites reshoring as a growth driver in North America

Montréal — Plastics machinery companies continue to ride the reshoring wave. "Business is good in North America," Glenn Frohring, president of Worcester, MA-based Absolute Haitian, told PlasticsToday. "We are three to five percent stronger than last year, looking forward to a great end of the year and gearing up for next year." So what is helping to drive growth for the company in North America? Yep, you got it - reshoring.  "A lot of molds are coming back from Asia," he said. Frohring also cited a strong automotive market.

Absolute Haitian is the exclusive sales and service partner in Canada and the U.S. for Ningbo Haitian Machinery Co., Ltd. based in Ningbo, China. Ningbo Haitian Machinery Co., Ltd. is the world's largest supplier of plastics injection molding machinery, shipping in excess of 27,000 machines in 2013.

During Expoplast at the Palais des Congres de Montréal, the company featured its Haitian Mars II Series, a second generation servo-hydraulic injection molding machine. The Haitian Mars II the company showcased was the MAII-1200 with 135 U.S. tons of clamp force. The MA-1200 produced pieces of ancillary bicycling equipment, a clip used to hold a light stick for nighttime riding. The material for the clip is a 20-melt polypropylene from Washington Penn Plastics. The machine on display at the show had already been sold to a Montréal-based customer.

Since its introduction, Mars Series has sold more than 100,000 units worldwide. The second generation Mars provides molders with highly optimized technology and improved efficiency for lower energy consumption. The redesigned clamp unit lowers platen stress and improves mold force stability, reducing mold wear and improving molded part stability. The Mars II is equipped with the latest control technology from the European controls designer KEBA.
