The new styrenic-based modifiers address processability and performance properties in a range of polymers.

Ineos Styrolution has introduced a diverse portfolio of polymer modifiers addressing a range of property enhancements, from improved stiffness to superior long-term performance under heat exposure, better color fastness and retention, UV resistance, dimensional stability, and impact resistance. Certain modifiers also allow for improved processing, resulting, for example, in working at lower temperatures and with reduced energy consumption.

Ineos Styrolution’s new modifier line is the result of intensive testing with a range of customers and partners over the past years. The new product line addresses the needs of compounders and extruders to enhance the properties of polymers and allow for improved processing. Smaller volumes of the new products are available via focused and experienced distribution partners Caldic B.V. and Bjørn Thorsen A/S.

Compatibility and efficiency of the styrenic-based modifiers vary by polymer. They have been tested for acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), polycarbonate (PC), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), and thermoplastic elastomer (TPU).

Eike Jahnke, Vice President Specialties, EMEA, adds: “For many applications I expect our new modifiers to become a game changer. For example, one benefit of styrenics is its low density. Additional cost is compensated not only by the performance improvement, but also by the lower density of the modifiers in compounds or blends.” Experts from Ineos Styrolution and its distribution partners have already started working with customers to identify the best modifier solution for a given challenge.

Ineos Styrolution will showcase these and other innovations at K 2022 in Düsseldorf, Germany, from Oct. 19 to 26. The company is exhibiting in booth D28 in hall 6.
