Mayzo Inc., a manufacturer and supplier of specialty chemicals located in Suwanee, GA, announced the acquisition of Bio Accutech Inc. (West Windsor, NJ), a distributor of specialty chemicals for the coatings, inks, and plastics markets. The acquisition was finalized on Oct. 9, 2020, with immediate integration taking place this month. All activities will be managed through Mayzo’s newly established 61,000-square-foot operations center in Walterboro, SC.
“The acquisition of Bio Accutech fits Mayzo’s business model and continues to build on our strategy to provide world-class chemical additive products and services,” said Ben Milazzo, founder and President of Mayzo.
With this acquisition, Mayzo extends its global supply chain and adds several new optical brighteners, photo initiators, and PVC additives to its portfolio.
Optical brighteners are valuable specialty chemical additives that create the appearance of brilliant whites or brighter colors and absorb UV light, modifying its wavelength and then emitting it in a fluorescent fashion. This effect is important in a variety of applications, including plastics, coatings, printing inks, dyes, and fibers. Additionally, optical brighteners can be used as a tracer, for instance, to confirm that uniform coverage of an adhesive or sealant has been achieved.
Mayzo provides specialty chemical additive solutions on a global scale in a range of markets. Its proven materials make manufacturing processes safer and more efficient while reducing costs and creating more sustainable, durable, and reliable end-products. Mayzo antioxidants and UV absorbers function as stabilizers to prevent product damage due to heat, light, or oxygen exposure. Other technologies include release coatings, polymer enhancers, and masterbatches and blends.
