Infiniti, which produces recording media and packaging, describes its Paducah manufacturing plant as a fully automated injection molding facility with a dual-line rail spur that processes approximately 2 million lb of resin per month. Amaray, which is part of AGI-Shorewood Group (ASG) of specialty-packaging manufacturers, has 200,000 sq ft of manufacturing and warehousing at its Elizabethtown, KY site. That facility has 40 injection molding machines ranging in size from 110 to 450 tons.

In a release, Ted Brown, VP and general manager of Amaray North America said Infiniti's assets would increase its capacity by 35%. In response to questions from PlasticsToday, Brown said Amaray acquired one 240-ton injection molding machine and six 600-ton presses.

Amaray has four facilities worldwide, including Elizabethtown, KY; Pittsfield, MA; Corby, England; and Freden, Germany. Pittsfield has 28 injection molding machines ranging from 80 to 420 tons, with the European plants running 70 presses combined, ranging in clamp force from 150 to 600 tons. ASG employs 3000 people worldwide and operates 19 manufacturing facilities including lithographic, flexographic, digital, and specialty gravure printing, in addition to the Amaray injection molding unit.
