Articulated robot interface on IMM control

I ntegrated screens are now available on the Polaris control for either ABB or Fanuc robots. By integrating the robot screens into the control, the user can reportedly set up, adjust, and debug the system quickly, resulting in high system uptimes. After initial robot programming using the robot?s pendant, the control interface serves as the single point of control for day-to-day operations of the workcell.

The interface is said to be easy to set up, with a save/recall feature that allows fast and easy system set-up and eliminates the need to go back and forth between the machine control and robot pendant. Resets and re-starts are reportedly easy, with dedicated keys on the Human Machine Interface (HMI) for robot start/stop and return-to-home functions that reduce the steps to resume the machine cycle. The interface allows continuous fine tuning of the robot?s position without interrupting the cycle. All robot and machine alarms, events, and I/O can now be viewed from the machine HMI for faster diagnostics. This helps to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly and effectively. The single interface reduces the risk of errors and makes system start-up and modification easier compared to a workcell with multiple HMIs.
