30 years, 1000 robots for Krauss-Maffei Automation AG

Krauss-Maffei Automation AG celebrated two milestones on July 16: the 30th anniversary of its founding by Josef Neureder in Schwaig in 1982 and the supply of the 1000th robot from the "robot wharf" of the branch in Schwerin.

Krauss-Maffei said that more than 1000 visitors celebrated the company's 30th anniversary. Josef Neureder, Chairman of the Board of Management of Krauss-Maffei Automation AG said the company has expanded continuously over the last three decades and now has a total workforce of around 180 employees, including 10 apprentices. Those workers are shared among the main plant in Schwaig and the branches in Munich and Schwerin.PM_AUT_2012-006_LRX350.jpg

Earlier this year,  Krauss-Maffei more than doubled the size of its production hall in Schwaig, building out an assembly area of 1700 sq m. The 1000th robot, a LRX-S 350 linear design with a payload of 35 kg, was supplied from the branch plant in Schwerin and will be installed for a U.S. customer on a KraussMaffei CX 350-3000 injection molding machine.

The Schwerin plant was established in 2000 and started to produce robots in 2001. At this time, 22 employees produce large linear robot devices in the LRX/LRX-S 250 to 1000 series with payloads from 25 and 100 kg, as well as side entry robots.
