The new EcoAir 325 tool and die rust preventative is easy to atomize over a large surface area, such as the interior of a plastic injection mold or die.

While rust prevention is important in the automotive industry to extend the life of vehicles, corrosion protection is equally important for molds and tooling used to manufacture automotive parts. Corrosion on plastic injection molds for auto interiors, where aesthetics are critical, can lead to quality problems and costly repairs or losses.

Cortec counteracts these problems with simple solutions that are easy for manufacturers to implement and can save them time and money in the long run, said Cortec in its announcement about the new EcoAir 325 tool and die rust preventative. EcoAir 325 is a ready-to-use vegetable-oil/solvent-based liquid packaged in EcoAir spray cans that rely on compressed air rather than traditional aerosol propellants. It is easy to atomize over a large surface area, such as the interior of a plastic injection mold or die.

Unlike other mold savers that may clog mold pores and must be cleaned off before use, EcoAir 325 does not have to be removed. This makes it easy to bring a mold out of shipping or storage and put into immediate use.

EcoAir 325 protects molds, tooling, and gauges that need to be shipped between plants or even to overseas facilities. EcoAir 325 can be used in conjunction with the company’s Vapor Phase Corrosion Inhibitor (VpCI) shrink film to form an additional exterior barrier to protect against harsh weathering elements.
