With the sale, the Hübner Group is continuing the restructuring and reorientation of its Material Solutions business segment, the company said in a news release. "We will be concentrating on innovative, technologically sophisticated industries and markets providing high-quality technical solutions that make use of plastics, composite materials and elastomers, such as rubber and silicones, together with increasing use of sensor systems," said General Manager Ingolf Cedra.

Hübner explained that its goal moving forward is to consolidate its leading market position in the area of door safety and sealing systems for public transport applications. The company notably supplies finger-protection profiles with integrated sensors to bus and railway manufacturers around the world. The oil and gas, aviation and healthcare sectors also are increasingly important target industries for the Material Solutions business.

A top priority in selling the automotive segment was ensuring uninterrupted supply of services to customers, which Gotec is equipped to deliver, said Hübner. “Gotec personnel will receive in-depth training from Hübner employees starting in January," said Cedra. In addition, Hübner personnel will serve in an advisory capacity through June 30, 2020. Initially, Gotec will maintain production in Kassel and will lease facilities at the Hübner plant in Bettenhausen through mid-2021.

A global system supplier for the mobility industry, manufacturing and life sciences and research, the Hübner Group is a leading producer of gangway systems for buses and railway vehicles; a supplier of sophisticated elastomer products, insulation and composite materials through its Material Solutions business; and a developer of laser, terahertz and high-frequency technologies through its Photonics group. The company employs more than 3,300 people worldwide.
