Compounder Geon Performance Solutions is launching a new thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) production line in Mexico that promises to shorten material lead times for automotive OEMs and consumer markets.

The facility in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, has been in operation since 2003 and holds IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 quality certifications. The plant will produce compounds including TPE and thermoplastic vulcanizate.

Geon in March announced it would invest $1.3 million in expanding and upgrading the facility.

“The startup of the new manufacturing line in Ramos Arizpe is a milestone in our commitment to invest and expand in Mexico,” said Alberto Rios, general manager of Geon Mexico. “The Ramos Arizpe facility can now better support local customer growth with enhanced formulation, prototyping, and sampling services, ensuring Geon remains a key innovation partner for the markets we serve.”

The new production line builds upon Geon’s recent growth measures, including the acquisition of PolymaxTPE in December 2023 and subsequent investment in its facility in Dyersburg, TN, which produces TPE and thermoplastic polyolefin. Geon also makes TPE in Nantong, Jiangsu, China.
