Gala Industries (Eagle Rock, VA), a maker of underwater pelletizers, centrifugal pellet dryers and process solutions, has been bought by Maag Pump Systems AG (Oberglatt, Switzerland), a business unit of Dover Corp. (Downers Grove, IL). The deal is expected to close later in the fourth quarter. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Gala Industries Inc., founded in 1959, developed a strong global reputation for engineering, manufacturing and application expertise across a diverse range of materials used in many end-markets, including the medical, food and beverage, adhesive and compounding industries. Maag is a global maker of gear pumps, pelletizing systems, and filtration systems for plastics and other industries. Both companies will maintain their existing brand names, which include Maag Pump Systems, Automatik Pelletizing Systems and Gala Industries. Maag employs more than 500 associates and has operations in Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, China, Brazil and the U.S.

“The addition of Gala’s innovative products will further enhance Maag’s strong position in underwater pelletizers and centrifugal dryers and globally position the combined company as a leading provider of equipment for the polymer and compounding industry,” Maag said in a statement.
The combined business will be headed by Ueli Thuerig, President of Maag.
