Plastics and chemicals supplier BASF (Florham Park, NJ) has changed distribution channels for its styrenics business in North America, dropping Ashland Distribution and adding Entec/Ravago in a move prompted by Ashland’s agreement earlier this year with Sabic Innovative Plastics. The Ravago Group’s Ultrapolymers business already helps distribute BASF’s plastics in Europe.

Two other companies, M. Holland Company and Amco Plastic Materials, also already have been distributing BASF’s styrenics-based materials in North America and continue to do so. Ashland remains a recognized distributor for BASF's engineering plastics and polyurethane business units in North America, a BASF spokesperson told MPW.
BASF’s styrenics portfolio includes branded products Luran S ASA, Styrolux SBC, Terluran ABS, Luran SAN copolymers, Terlux MABS, and Terblend N ABS/PA blends.
For its part, Ashland has gained a number of new plastics suppliers for its distribution channel, recently naming Sabic Innovative Plastics and polylactic acid supplier NatureWorks as suppliers for whom it would offer its services. The former agreement brought Sabic’s ABS and ASA materials into Ashland’s distribution channel and prompted BASF’s styrenics unit leadership to opt for a new partner. —[email protected]
