Proco Machinery’s high-impact deflashers handle tough blowmolded bottle applications

Proco deflasherHandling blowmolded and injection blowmolded containers with heavy wall thicknesses made of PC, E-PET and other tough resins requires heavy-duty deflashers/trimmers. Proco Machinery (Mississauga, ON, Canada), a manufacturer of automation systems for the blowmolding industry, has launched two new automatic deflashers/trimmers specifically designed to handle these high-impact applications: the PADM3-1S Automatic and the Pneutrium-Plus Automatic deflashers.

“This technical upgrade helps our customers meet the stringent deflashing requirements of high-impact materials,” said Siva Krush, Vice President of Sales for Proco Machinery. “These new deflashing options are already being used by a couple of our customers in very demanding applications.”

The Pneutrium Plus deflasher is designed to remove flash on containers sized up to 10 gallons and can be configured to deflash multiple containers simultaneously, enabling processors to increase production rates. Guide rods ensure accurate alignment, permitting the whole mechanism to be adjusted vertically, and an embedded scale provides reference for accurate placement. The punch is driven by a three-inch-diameter air cylinder, which can produce up to 700 lbs. of force to remove large, difficult flashes easily, explains Proco.

The new high-impact deflashers can be integrated with the take-out system or can be operated as a stand-alone system, helping processors to reduce the equipment footprint as well as maintain or reduce line speeds. The high-impact deflashers can operate at line speeds of 3.5 seconds per cycle, the fastest in Proco’s history, said the company.

The new systems come with color touch panels featuring easy-to-change timer and control settings and a guard system designed to protect the operator while allowing an obstructed view of the machine’s operation.
