Booth E-13419

npe8.jpgWhat's Hot! Bohler's primary focus will be on M310 ISOPLAST, a stainless mold steel intended for applications where corrosive by-products are formed. The corrosion-resistant properties are the result of the balanced addition of chromium and molybdenum. This processing method, which includes electro-slag remelting (ESR), also provides this mold steel with outstanding polishability characteristics so it can be used for applications that require a high-quality surface finish.

In order to provide the entire mold with corrosion-resistant properties Bohler also produces M314 EXTRA. This steel is an improved free-machining stainless steel that is supplied in the pre-hardened condition. The M314 EXTRA has been alloyed with sulfur to provide the steel with excellent machinability in the pre-hardened condition. The use of the M314 EXTRA for the holder material, in combination with the M310 ISOPLAST for the inserts, will allow the entire mold to be fabricated from a stainless material.

Also on display will be M238 (an improved P20), S7MQ (mold quality S7), newly introduced W302 VMR and W302 ISOPLAST (ESR-quality premium H13). For mold applications that require a combination of resistance to corrosion and abrasive wear Bohler has also developed M390 ISOMATRIX, a powder metallurgical stainless steel.
