As the global economy maintains its recovery, China continues to play a role in driving worldwide growth. Amid China’s “dual circulation” strategy — focusing on both domestic and international markets — Chinaplas 2025 will take place April 15 to 18 in Shenzhen, a key city within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The 37th international exhibition of the plastics and rubber industries returns to Shenzhen, which the group said offers an opportunity to leverage the region’s timing, geographic advantages, and access to a skilled workforce. This will ensure the exhibition effectively connects both local and international markets.

Chinaplas 2024 drew 321,879 attendees from 171 countries and regions, including a record 73,204 overseas visitors, highlighting its international appeal.

What makes this event so attractive to global buyers? According to Ada Leung, general manager of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd., the event’s success can be attributed to its long-standing position in the plastics and rubber industries. With more than 40 years of experience, Chinaplas has established itself as a platform for industry innovation. According to the group, its large scale generates significant foot traffic, and its emphasis on technology-driven solutions makes it attractive for buyers seeking the latest materials and equipment.

Leung said the exhibition also benefits from strong international connections, with long-term partnerships with trade associations and a global outreach strategy aimed at expanding its buyer base. Chinaplas consistently introduces new promotional strategies to attract global markets.

Technologies on display

According to Chinaplas, the 2025 event will feature more than 4,000 international exhibitors, showcasing the latest innovations in plastics and rubber technology. More than 1,300 exhibitors are categorized as "Professionalization, Refinement, Specialization, and Innovation" (PRSI), making up a third of the total exhibition space. This concentration of specialized, high-tech solutions underscores China’s leadership in the plastics and rubber industries and reinforces the exhibition's global appeal.

The group noted its exhibition also has a broad international outreach, targeting high-growth markets such as Southeast Asia, Turkey, and Mexico. By engaging in both online and offline promotional campaigns, the event maximizes its global reach.

Moreover, the CPS+ eMarketplace platform, Chinaplas’ online-to-offline (O2O) partner, helps keep the exhibition in tune with buyer needs year-round, ensuring continued engagement and conversion of online interest into on-site attendance.

In a move toward deeper global collaboration, Chinaplas 2025 said it has partnered with the Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association (MPMA) to launch the Spotlight on Malaysia: Buyer Program. This initiative aims to strengthen international business relationships and foster technological exchanges. It noted MPMA will actively engage with other Malaysian trade units and industry associations to promote the event, and in January 2025, the two organizations will co-host a New Tech Seminar in Kuala Lumpur to preview innovations to be showcased at Chinaplas 2025.

Strengthening global competitiveness through innovation

According to Chinaplas, as Chinese companies expand globally — particularly in sectors like electronics, automotive, and new energy — technology and innovation have become central to their success.

The group noted that from January to September 2024, China saw a 21.8% increase in household appliance exports and a 27.3% growth in automobile exports, reflecting the growing global presence of Chinese brands such as Haier, Midea, Gree, Hisense, BYD, and SAIC Motor. As these companies establish overseas manufacturing facilities, the role of advanced materials and technologies becomes increasingly important.

Chinaplas 2025 will also provide a platform for connecting suppliers of innovative plastics and rubber solutions with global buyers. By showcasing high-performance materials and cutting-edge technologies, the exhibition helps companies elevate their product quality and competitiveness in international markets.
