There has been some more chatter about a Plastic Man movie that is in development at Warner Bros., and Marlon Wayans started it. (We recently reported on the project in our Throwback Thursday series: "Is Plastic Man bound for the cineplex?".)
|Marlon Wayans stars in the
Netflix movie, Sextuplets.
The youngest of the Wayans siblings, who came to fame on the In Living Color TV show and Scary Movie franchise, Marlon expressed enthusiastic interest in playing the infinitely bendable superhero, should the film ever emerge from development purgatory. In an interview with Screenrant while promoting his new Netflix movie Sextuplets, Wayans said that he “would love to play Plastic Man.”
“I think [Plastic Man] works with the comedic skill set that I have, in terms of how I'm physical, I'm bendy,” Wayans told Screenrant. “And I think it'd be cool to just do it without... You know, what's great about Black Panther is he's a black superhero, right? But sometimes [it's fun] to just do something. Like, you wouldn't think Plastic Man was a black guy, but it's not black—it's just, he's plastic. I think it'd be fun for me, because I know I got to add my humor to it," said Wayans.
As reported in our Throwback Thursday piece, Ben Schwartz of the TV show Parks and Recreation has said that he would love to slip into the Plastic Man suit. And, although he may be a bit long in the tooth for the part now, Jim Carrey has the elasticity and zaniness to pull off the Deadpool-like blend of action and humor that the Plastic Man project appears to be channeling.
