DSM Composite Resins (Schaffhausen, Switzerland) has hired Mona Bielmeier as its new global marketing and communication manager effective April 1, 2010. She will report directly to Michael Effing, president of the company.

Bielmeier's experience in the compounds' world is extensive as she has worked at Menzolit Compounds, and for the SMC-BMC Alliance and tradeshow organizer JEC Composites.

Color and appearance testing instrument maker BYK-Gardner has made several changes in its North American sales organization. Richard Scott, who was a region manager for MI/OH/IN/KY, has been promoted to director of key accounts for North America. In addition, Carol Traister has joined the company as regional manager for the Ohio Valley area, and Blake Burich is now regional manager for the Eastern Great Lakes area.

Sheet and profile extruder Pexco (Columbia, SC and Yakima, WA), has announced new leadership for its custom profile and sheet solutions group. This business unit will be led by Jack Black in the eastern U.S. and Jim Widhalm in the western states. They succeed the late Tom Innamorato.Black, who also serves as VP of sales/lighting products, is based in Columbia, SC. Widhalm, VP sales, aerospace, is based in Yakima, Wash. "With the recovery of the economy, we see these changes as giving us a push towards our goals. In January and February of this year, the Custom team has handled a record number of quotations," said Pexco CEO Neil Shillingford. Specialty chemicals distributor Lintech International LLC (Macon, GA) has announced two new product manager positions. Kathy Briggs has joined the company as its product manager, resins, while Charles Churn III, who has been with Lintech for almost ten years as a technical sales representative, has been promoted to product manager, additives.

Keith Watterson has joined King Plastic Corporation as marketing manager, responsible for the marketing strategy and communications supporting Kings diversified lines of architectural casegoods, healthcare products, marine, and industrial products.

Brush Wellman Inc. has promoted Thomas Hazen to global market manager plastics tooling where he will coordinate development, marketing and sales of the company’s plastic tooling products, specifically The MoldMax family of copper and copper beryllium alloys for high performance molds.

Having completed its acquisition of Alcan's plastics packaging business in the Americas, packaging blowmolder Amcor PET Packaging Business (Ann Arbor,MI) has changed its name to Amcor Rigid Plastics. The newly renamed business group is among seven operating units that were organized following the $1.9 billion acquisition of parts of Alcan Packaging by parent company Amcor Ltd.

Amcor Rigid Plastics consists of Amcor PET Packaging; Bericap North America, a plastic closures joint venture between Amcor and the Bericap Group; and the plastics container unit of Alcan's global pharmaceutical business. Bill Long, who had been president of Amcor PET Packaging, continues to lead at the new business.

The acquisition added approximately $160 million in sales and 800 employees across six plants to Amcor's mix. The new processing facilities are in the U.S. in Millville, NJ, DesPlaines, IL, Bethlehem, PA, Youngsville, NC; and in Cayey, Puerto Rico, and Diadema, Brazil.
