Gaining the Accel Color brand name, as well as facilities in Avon, OH; Naperville, IL; Ontario, CA; and Knoxville, TN, additive producer Techmer PM (Clinton, TN) has acquired Accel Corp. in a merger transaction. In addition to expanding its manufacturing footprint, Techmer said in a release that the deal brings with it a well-established colorant brand. Members of Accel’s management will be retained, with its president, Dwight Morgan, saying a “national presence is more and more important in the North American colorants industry.” Techmer PM has five North American manufacturing sites: Rancho Dominguez, CA; Clinton, TN; Gainesville, GA; Wichita, KS; and Dalton, GA. Accel formulates a number of products, including color concentrates, dry color blends, liquid color, super concentrates, and a proprietary waxed-based delivery system, using 20 twin- and single-screw extrusion lines.

Techmer PM also recently formed a joint venture with Germany’s Lehmann & Voss & Co. (Hamburg) called Techmer Lehvoss Compounds LLC, or TLC. Internationally, through joint ventures and partnerships, Techmer PM has a presence in Brazil, China, and Japan, in addition to Lehmann’s Western Europe presence.
