Jan Norman, small-business columnist for The Orange County Register, recently highlighted processor Southern California Plastics (Santa Ana, CA) in her newspaper's blog on local small business owners. Her blog notes the devastation - really no other word for it - that the state's manufacturing workers have faced in the past years. The total payroll headcount at California-based manufacturers now numbers about 1.2 million, just 2/3 of what it was 10 years ago.
