Bioplastic supplier Cereplast would like to create a universal symbol to denote bioplastics and it wants your help. On Jan. 3, the company launched a graphic design contest in search of a symbol that will make it easy for consumers to identify products that are made from bioplastics. For those that aren't graphic design artists, Cereplast says you can still vote for your favorite bioplastics symbol.

Cereplast’s $25,000 bioplastics symbol design challenge

The voting for this online competition will be open to the public and will determine the top 50 finalists, which will then be reviewed by a panel of judges. That panel will include Gary Anderson, the creator of the recycling symbol, and famous designer Karim Rashid. In addition to posterity through the graphic, the winner will also receive a $25,000 award from Cereplast
