Coatings offer levels of mold release

Article-Coatings offer levels of mold release

Different mold sections might require different levels of release, and a new product from Zyvax allows molders to incrementally adjust the level of release needed for specific parts and processes. The Flex-Z system has coatings numbered 1.0 to 6.0, with each level offering a different level of release. Simultaneous levels can be used on the same mold; one portion may require a 4.0, while another section uses a 2.0. This system also aids in making adjustments when switching between summer and winter resin systems.

The products help to solve issues such as hard pulls and prerelease problems while maintaining a high level of gloss. The formula reportedly eliminates streaking across a range of application techniques, making retraining unnecessary. The products are said to eliminate sagging of gel coat on vertical surfaces and reduce styrene buildup so the mold stays cleaner longer. The system is free of hazardous air pollutants to help molders meet new emission restrictions.?KH
