Bemis Associates acquires thermoplastic compounder PolyVisions

Scott Howard, executive VP of business development at Bemis Associates, told PlasticsToday that PolyVisions manufactures additives and masterbatches using a variety of polyolefins, polyester, nylon and elastomeric polymers, while Bemis specializes in polymer grafting. PolyVisions will now be a wholly owned subsidiary of Bemis.

"PolyVisions will not be supplying Bemis, but will operate independently of Bemis," Howard said. "The goal is to improve the diversification of the overall business by expanding PolyVisions sales in markets that Bemis does not currently supply."

All of the current employees of PolyVisions will stay with the company and it will continue to operate in its current 25,000-sq-ft facility. PolyVisions has three production twin-screw extruders and will be 100% focused on selling compounds to the broader market.

Bemis and PolyVisions will immediately look to fill several new positions at the company to facilitate the expected growth.

Howard will become the president and CEO of PolyVision.

"We believe there are tremendous opportunities for growth in the specialty thermoplastic compounds market," Howard said."The PolyVisions team has outstanding technical knowledge in both formulating and manufacturing high value thermoplastic compounds. We look forward to using the combined strengths of both companies to capitalize on the growth opportunities in the compounded materials markets."
