The Sweden-based plastics compounder expands global reach with a sales office in Mexico City on the heels of opening its first US plant.

On the heels of opening its first US plant in North Carolina last month, Swedish plastics compounder Polykemi AB announced the launch of a subsidiary in Mexico City.

The company had been supplying the Mexican market with plastic raw materials from its production facility in Ystad, Sweden, and US-based partner companies. “Now that our new production facility in Gastonia, NC, is operational, it is a natural step in the globalization of the company to also establish a new Polykemi subsidiary with a sales office in Mexico,” said Mattias Persson, sales manager at Polykemi AB.

Former partner Fernando Gonzalez has been named to manage the new sales office. He has more than 30 years of experience in the local plastics industry.

Polykemi Mexico will work hand in hand with Polykemi Inc. USA and from the new production facility in Gastonia. Polykemi said it will supply the North and South American markets with high-quality customized plastic compounds based on both virgin and recycled plastic raw materials.

Founded in 1968, Polykemi celebrates its 55th anniversary this year.
