Container Spin TrimmingSystems Now Come WithGear Belts

At NPE MTM showed two spin trimming systems (the 730AG Portable Spin Trimmer and the 2025HCM-ID Horizontal Spin Trimmer) that are now available with gear belt technology, which is said to provide a more efficient, positive drive system for longer belt life and reduced chance of slippage.

The 730AG Portable Spin Trimmer uses a toothed belt and gear-type pulleys to provide efficient and positive power transmission. This low-cost trimming system incorporates MTM's patented Heated Blade Technology to trim a variety of container sizes.

MTM says the 730AG can be easily moved from site to site and is ideal for smaller shops that produce shorter runs of different container sizes. The trimmer can also be installed over a conveyor system for a dedicated installation.

This trimmer is designed to accommodate containers with 1.5 to 7-in. diameters and neck sizes up to 110 mm (4.3 in.). Container heights can vary from 3 to 18 in. on standard machines. Custom adaptations are possible for off-size containers.

While container dimensions determine the maximum number of trimmed containers per minute, MTM says the 730AG reaches speeds of more than 80 containers/min. Trim speeds are controlled by a variable-speed drive system, and blade temperature is fully adjustable via proportioning control.

The 730AG Spin Trimmer incorporates a pneumatically controlled part guide to release jammed containers so operators don't have to enter the actual trim area. When the jam is cleared, the blade and dome guide can be automatically returned to their original position without adjustment.

In addition, the Trim Head can be raised and lowered independently of the frame for easier and faster container-height adjustments. Trim blade angle and depth selections can be made with micrometer-style adjustment.

The 2025HCM-ID Horizontal Spin Trimmer is designed to trim mouth-to-mouth or 'log-style' containers. Like the 730AG, this model has a toothed belt and gear-type pulleys and uses MTM's Heated Blade Technology.

The 2025HCM accommodates containers with 1.5 to 7-in. diameters with neck sizes up to 110 mm (4.3 in.). Container heights can vary from 3 to 18 in. on standard machines. It can operate at speeds of more than 380 containers/min. Temperature adjustment is via a proportioning control, and trim speeds are controlled by a variable-speed drive system.
