The ability to select value-added products for the home, stronger acceptance by homeowners of advanced-materials products, and the desire of builders to save labor on the job site are just three of the top industry trends that Therma-Tru and Fypon products are providing in 2011, according to Therma-Tru's president, Dave Randich.
Founded in 1962, Therma-Tru (Maumee, OH) pioneered the fiberglass entry door industry, and today offers a complete portfolio of entry and patio doors. The company also offers low-maintenance Fypon urethane and PVC products.
Dave Randich, president of Therma-Tru, in a presentation at the recent International Builders Show in Orlando, FL, said, "Adding value and investing in smart purchases will be key factors for homeowners, builders, and remodelers throughout 2011. Both industry professionals and consumers are researching their options carefully for home enhancement products."
Randich identified several key trends for 2011, and provided information on how Therma-Tru is responding to these trends. With stronger acceptance of advanced-materials products with "crisp lines" and "appealing styles" as an alternative to wood products, Randich noted that Therma-Tru's new line of Classic-Craft Canvas Collection fiberglass entryways are smooth and paintable, with rich, wide embossment details. One-piece Fypon urethane pilasters, crossheads, and pediments come in hundreds of sizes and profiles, and offer crisp, clean lines that replicate old-fashioned wood pieces.
Builders and remodelers also require products that provide more value with little or no maintenance, said Randich. To meet this demand, Fypon urethane trim pieces save time and labor on the jobsite, and according to independent research, installation of urethane products saves 19% over wood product installation and 29% over PVC installation.
While energy efficiency is big on homeowners' lists, homeowners are also demanding more color options when selecting building products. Randich explained that Therma-Tru's New Classic-Craft Canvas Collection doors can be painted so that any door is customizable to the homeowner's color pallet. The polyurethane cores in Therma-Tru doors make the doors more energy efficient with four times more insulation value than wood doors. For trim, Fypon offers its urethane products pre-primed and ready for painting (or faux finishing) for interior and exterior use.
"For 2011, our focus is on adding solid value to the home with exciting products that enhance the living experience for homeowners," said Randich. "We will introduce product innovations that meet current industry trends while being beautiful and contemporary." —Clare Goldsberry
