The ProJet 5000 large-format printer from 3D Systems Inc. (Rock Hill, SC) reportedly offers the largest build area of any photopolymer-based printing system (a 21.65-by-15.5-by-11.8-inch envelope). A wide range of photopolymer-based materials can be deployed with the printer for fabricating rugged functional prototype parts, while 100% Realwax patterns can also be generated for investment casting.

The ProJet 5000 can produces tough ABS-type plastic parts, melt-away wax supports for hands-off finishing of complex parts, and high detail and fine-feature precision parts. It also offers multiple build resolutions for flexibility in speed and performance (656 by 656 by 800 dpi (xyz) in the UHD mode and 328 by 328 by 606 dpi in the HD mode), and the ability to stack parts for maximum throughput and flexibility.
