After last year's successful conference dedicated to plastics processors in the medical devices industry and pharmaceutical packaging, EuPC, the European trade organization for plastics processors, will officially launch a new sector group called MedPharmPlast Europe.
Whilst the medical market is still growing, the international competition is fierce and entry barriers are increasingly high. MedPharmPlast Europe aims to facilitate the development of market opportunities and promote the competitiveness of the European companies in the international market.
The strict and rapidly evolving regulatory environment at the European level is one of the main drivers behind the establishment of the new sector group, said EuPC, citing as an example the recent proposal of the European Parliament to introduce a 0.1 percent weight percent threshold and to set up a delegated act procedure for granting authorizations for the use of substances in concentrations above 0.1 percent for medical devices.
EuPC is calling on all parties active in the medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging industries to join MedPharmPlast Europe in order to create a strong group to work together and to defend the interests of the industry. Several companies have already expressed interest in joining the new group.
EuPC has already asked, and obtained from, the European Commission the right to represent plastics for medical devices through a direct participation in the European medical devices expert group.
The kick-off meeting of MedPharmPlast Europe will take place January 28 in Brussels, Belgium.
