The challenges facing manufacturing are compounded by a lack of skilled workers. Even the return of many manufactured products from low-cost countries is being hampered by the unavailability of workers skilled in many of the trades required. Offshoring led to many of these skilled workers to find other jobs in other types of work or accept early retirement offers by their employers.
On September 23-25, the third annual tuXperience, hosted by Tool U-SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) will be held at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel in Chicago. The focus of the conference will be how best to train the workforce of today and tomorrow, and will showcase successful, integrated training programs used by top manufacturers. Also featured will be nationally recognized training experts and breakout Q&A sessions with current Tooling U-SME customers and those looking to develop a world-class training program.

Keynote speakers include Elliott Masie, an internationally recognized futurist focused on workforce learning, business collaboration and emerging technologies; and David Vance, president of Manage Learning LLC, and founder and former head of Caterpillar University. There will be panel discussions covering topics such as “Aligning Tooling U-SMD with Key Business Objectives” and “Establishing Clear Training Program Objectives.”
