Contract medtech molder Raumedic inaugurates new facility

A provider of contract design and development, molding, extrusion and assembly services to the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, Raumedic AG inaugurated a new building last week at its headquarters in Helmbrechts, Germany.

An expansion was badly needed, according to the company, to satisfy growing demand and provide more space for research and development, quality management, laboratory work, production and logistics. A key addition is a 2,250-square-meter Class 7 cleanroom.

The €26 million expansion will allow Raumedic to implement new custom projects at the technology center with a focus on precision injection molding and fully automated assembly. The company, which currently employs 630 people worldwide, anticipates creating almost 200 more jobs in Helmbrechts over the coming years.

Source products and services from Raumedic and hundreds of other suppliers at the co-located MD&M Minneapolis
and PLASTEC Minneapolis events on Nov. 4 and 5, 2015.

In addition to members of the C suite—Raumedic CEO Martin Bayer and Rehau Group President Jobst Wagner—elected officials and representatives from industry organizations participated in the opening ceremony.

The company will celebrate another milestone later this year, when it completes construction of its first production center outside Germany in Mills River, NC. Production at the $27-million facility is scheduled to start in January 2016.
