Sekisui Alveo, a Lucerne, Switzerland-based processor of physically cross-linked polyolefin foam, has acquired Polymer-Tec from its parent, Polymer-Chemise GmbH. The move adds non-cross-linked foams to Sekisui's portfolio. Polymer-Tec (Bad Sobernheim, Germany) will remain a going concern.The acquisition will be official on January 1, 2010 when Polymer-Tec will be merged into Sekisui Alveo AG. Sekisui intends to keep operations running at the Bad Sobernheim facility and also to retain Polymer-Tec's 73 employees. Sekisui will not disclose the price of the acquisition.

Cross-linked foam processor broadens portfolio with acquisition

Integration of Polymer-Tec into Sekisui Alveo will begin in January 2010 and is scheduled to be complete by midyear. Together the two will have about 480 employees.

Sekisui Alveo's cross-linked polyolefin foam sees use in a wide variety of applications, including swimming pool liners and automotive parts.
