DuPont breaks ground for new Singapore Vespel plant

DuPont Engineering Polymers has started work on the construction of its new production facility for Vespel polyimide parts and shapes in Singapore. “Industry demand for metals-replacement technologies that reduce weight and cost is driving a step-change for our business. A Singapore facility together with other Vespel production facilities in Ohio, Delaware, Belgium, and Japan would help us meet burgeoning demands both globally and locally,” said William Weber, global business director, Vespel parts and shapes. The facility is expected to be operational in early 2008.

DuPont offers five families of Vespel parts and shapes ranging from seal rings and couplings to engine clamps to replace metal and ceramics. Primary markets are global aerospace, semiconductor, industrial, and transportation industries, as well as in office machine and pump applications.—[email protected]
