E-shots Web-exclusive: Engel starts building Shanghai factory

At the groundbreaking ceremony to start construction of Engel's new molding machine factory in Shanghai, company chairman Peter Neumann said that by the end of 2006 the first “domestic” Engel large machines will be shipping in Asia. The 8000m² production facility also will contain 1000m² of office and administration space. Engel's Korean factory making small machines has been open since 2001 and exports more than 50% of its production, mainly to China. The choice of Shanghai for the large-machine plant is at least partly explained by the concentration of automotive business there.
