Extruder maker forms WPC group to target growing market

In a move to increase its exposure in and focus on the market for profile extrusion of wood/plastic compounds (WPC), extruder manufacturer KraussMaffei Berstorff (Hannover and Munich, Germany) has set up a separate product team to focus on this slice of the market. Although WPC processing remains a niche, it is proving to be one with positive growth and to be global in nature.

The company manufactures systems for polyolefin- and PVC-based WPC compounds. According to the manufacturer, its co-rotating twin-screw extruders are quite suited to direct extrusion of WPC, especially since the natural fibers can be metered to the extruder without energy-intensive pre-drying. Throughout of up to 1000 kg/hr is possible. —[email protected]
